Short term...tonight through Saturday...scattered showers and 
thunderstorms this evening over southeast Oregon and mountains of SW Idaho 
will dissipate shortly after sunset with loss of daytime heating. 
With dry boundary layer potential for wind gusts to 40 miles per hour exists 
near a collapsing shower/thunderstorm. Not as cold tonight as air 
mass continues to moderate so any potential for frost will lie in 
the Magic Valley east of Twin Falls and Jerome. The upper low 
circulation over western Washington lifts into Canada on Friday 
with showers and thunderstorms continuing over east-central 
Oregon and the west-central Idaho mountains through late afternoon. 
Friday night and much of Saturday is dry under a southwest flow 
aloft. Instability and moisture will feed development of isolated 
showers and thunderstorms across southeast Oregon and the west central 
and Boise Mountains late Saturday afternoon. Temperatures Saturday are 
several degrees warmer than Friday. 


Long term...Saturday night through Thursday...little change in the 
weather pattern through the extended period as models still showing 
a broad upper level trough over the Pacific northwest through the 
extended. Several in a series of shortwaves will move through this 
trough that will bring periods of showers and keep temperatures near 
normal through the weekend and into next week.

Aviation...VFR. Scattered to broken middle level ceiling over 
southeast Oregon with high level clouds over southwest Idaho. 
Widely scattered rain shower over southeast Oregon through 04z with 
snow levels at or above 5500 feet mean sea level. West to northwest surface 
winds around 10 knots this evening...becoming light and variable 
after 05z. Winds aloft will be northwesterly around 10 knots up 
through 10k feet mean sea level.
