NWS Forecaster Discussion

Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Pocatello Idaho
228 PM MST sun Mar 1 2015

Short term...a low pressure disturbance will drop through Alberta
canad on Monday and bring scattered to numerous showers of snow
through south east Idaho Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
The associated surface cold front should move north to south along
the Interstate 15 corridor between Idaho Falls and Pocatello from
about midnight Monday night through Tuesday morning. This should
be accompanied by some 10 to 20 miles per hour winds from the west-
southwest...shifting to north Tuesday morning behind the front. That
stretch of Interstate could see up to an inch of snow...making for
a Dicey Tuesday morning commute. Otherwise the system over all
does not look particularly significant. For the mountains...Monday
and Tuesday combined total will only be 1 to 3 inches...possibly 4
on the mountains near Bear Lake. Receiver station

Long term...Wednesday through Sunday night. Expect cooler and dry
conditions on Wednesday as high pressure builds in. Thursday expect
warmer temperatures with continued dry conditions. Models continue
to bring a weak system through Friday...though the European model (ecmwf) models is
slower with this system. Wyatt&&

Aviation...expect VFR conditions to continue the next 24 hours.
Some middle-level moisture will start to move into the area tonight
ahead of the next system coming through Monday into Tuesday. Expect
winds to become breezy by tomorrow afternoon as well. Wyatt
